The wait is over and the kickoff to Summer is just days away in beautiful Williamsburg, Virginia. This is our first installment on the Summer of 2015 Williamsburg Vacations Top 5 Lists! This first list is focused on the Top 5 Adult Activities, but don’t worry there are more lists to come including a Top 5 Outdoor Activities and a Top 5 for Families.
#5: Pamper yourself at the Spa at Colonial Williamsburg, Named by Code Nast as one of the nation’s top spas, here you will find the perfect escape from life’s stresses no matter which Century you live in. From a traditional massage to a host of authentic treatments and baths, local Mom’s agree, a gift card to The Spa is universally the first choice for Mother’s Day and birthday presents (or dad’s in need of brownie points!)
#4: Spend some time on the water. The historic triangle of Williamsburg, Jamestown and Yorktown is bordered on two sides by the James and York Rivers. A scenic drive, or bike ride, along the Colonial Parkway connects the two over a span of 23 miles. Another great way to spend time on the water is a Sailing Tour with “Let’s Go Sail.” Captain (and history buff) Bill O’Donovan leads your journey aboard his 32 foot sailboat and lets you set the pace. He’s happy to enchant you with tales of the historic battles and military bases native to the York River, or simply guide the boat as you sit back and enjoy the ride.
#3: Hit the links – Most people don’t know that Williamsburg was named one of the top 25 golf destinations in the world. This summer spend time on one of the area’s award winning championship golf courses including the famed Golden Horseshoe Golf Club or Ford’s Colony Country Club. For more information on Williamsburg Golf Courses visit Virginia Golf Vacations.
#2: Spend time with world-renowned chefs at the Colonial Williamsburg Taste Studio. New in 2015 Colonial Colonial Williamsburg Taste StudioWilliamsburg now offers a contemporary culinary experience unlike any other just a short walk from the Williamsburg Inn. Classes take place in their state of the art demonstration kitchen and vary from farm to table garden inspired classics to dessert classes focused on the art of chocolate.
#1: Tastings Galore! Not only is Williamsburg home to Virginia’s largest winery, the Williamsburg Winery, but there are two other award winning vineyards and a brewing company within 20 miles. Tasting enthusiasts will enjoy visits to the New Kent Winery and Saude Creek Vineyards. Saude New Kent WineryCreek even features live music and scenic views most weekend evenings. Not to be outdone Williamsburg is now home to Aleworks Brewing Company where you can tour the brewery and taste their reserve Ale.
