A visit to New Town Williamsburg is a great addition to any vacation. No matter how much you enjoy the thrilling rides at Busch Gardens or the Revolutionary City of Colonial Williamsburg, every vacation needs a little downtime. Look no further than spending an afternoon or evening—or both—in New Town.
New Town is only two miles from Richmond Road, where you will find most of the area’s hotels, and can be reached either by making the short drive yourself, taking advantage of the Williamsburg Area Transit bus system, or by taking the Williamsburg Trolley that runs from Merchant’s Square to High Street to New Town.
No matter how you get there, in New Town you will find one of the area’s best collections of restaurants—as well as shops, recreation, and movie theaters—all in one location. Popular national chains like Bonefish Grill, Buffalo Wild Wings, and Panera Bread can be found just a short walk from Opus 9 Steakhouse, winner of the locals vote for best steakhouse. Other local favorites in New Town include Center Street Grill and Dudley’s Bistro.
New Town has entertainment for visitors of all ages. At Tony’s American Grill, enjoy a bit of Americana including homemade shakes and malts. Cogan’s Deli or Z Pizza are the perfect quick bite before catching a movie at the New Town Regal Theaters. A sweet tooth is no problem. Sweet Frogs frozen yogurt and Its Sugar candy store are both located right next to the movie theatre.
A collection of local shops and boutiques, as well as nationally known chains, can be found along New Town’s Main Street. Barnes and Noble, Chico’s, White House Black Market, and Victoria’s Secret are always excellent choices—or find the perfect gift at Paisley Gift Shop or the Mole Hole.
After dark, there is plenty to keep the adult crowd interested. Corner Pocket Billiards offers an upscale menu in a casual atmosphere. Many nights they also feature live music and drink specials. Center Street Grill and Cogan’s Deli also feature live music several nights per week. For the sports enthusiast, Buffalo Wild Wings and Cogan’s Deli offer the NFL Sunday Ticket in the fall and featured other sports depending on the season.
