The 6,432-yard, par-72 course favors accurate iron play and good putting. Golden Horseshoe Gold Course Located in Williamsburg Virginia, the Golden Horseshoe Gold was designed by legendary course architect Robert Trent Jones. A timeless layout cut out of Virgnia pine forests and rolling terrain. This course has hosted several USGA championships and recently hosted the 2007 NCAA National Men’s Championship. In 2008 Golf Digest ranked the Gold course of one of “Americas 100 greatest public courses!” Golden Horseshoe Green Course Designed by Rees Jones, son of Robert Trent Jones Sr. (Gold Course designer), this course opened in October of 1991. It was not long before the Green Course continued the tradition of the Golden Horseshoe. In 1992 Golf Digest selected the course as one of the five best new resort courses. Colonial Heritage Golf Club Designed by well-known golf course architect Arthur Hills opened in late fall 2006. The course is laid out on a beautiful piece of property and is truly one of Williamsburg’s best conditioned courses. Green speeds routinely run over 11 on the Stimpmeter. The course features large greens and several deep ravines. Holes to remember are the par four 8th and par five 14th. Both are distinctly different and leave little room for errant shots! The Tradition at Stonehouse Stonehouse Golf Club was the first Mike Stranz designed course in Williamsburg and awarded best “new Public” course by Golf Digest when it opened in 1995. Golf Williamsburg Travelers looking for a unique golf experience will definitely find it at Stonehouse. The course features deep chasm bunkers and huge multi-tiered greens. Higher handicappers should play the forward tees for maximum enjoyment. Kiskiack Golf Club Along the ridge of a natural bluff, Kiskiack offers a day of golf for players of all levels. Many of the picturesque holes demand accurate shot making from tee to green, while others are more forgiving with ample landing areas and gentle, sloping greens. The Tradition at Brickshire This four-year-old Curtis Strange signature course is easily explained in two words: “player friendly.” Discover wide, inviting fairways, artfully sculpted, true-rolling greens, and dramatic elevation changes. Golf Digest readers recently honored The Golf Club at Brickshire with a four and a half star rating. Golf Styles named Brickshire one of the mid-Atlantic’s “Must Play” courses. Fords Colony Marsh Hawk The Marsh Hawk golf course was an instant classic when it opened in 1985. The traditional tree-lined fairways, undulating greens and uniquely shaped bunkers, create a complete journey through the property. A par 72, measuring 6,700 yards from the back tees, Marsh Hawk’s greatest challenge is narrow fairways and strategically placed bunkers. The real beauty of this golf course lies within the contour of the holes around natural lakes and elevation changes that can delude your depth perception. Ford’s Colony Blackheath The 6,621-yard, par 71 Blackheath Course is the most picturesque course at Ford’s Colony. It presents many challenges to golfers of all abilities with water coming into play on thirteen holes, a total of nine dog legs and bunkers guarding every green. Ford’s Colony Blue Heron A favorite to Ford’s Colony members, the Blue Heron course consists of long and challenging par 3’s, fair and forthright par 4’s and intimidating par 5’s. Blue Heron provides some room for error off of the tee, but makes up for it by having 17 out of 18 greens guarded by bunkers. Many of these holes are carved out of dense wetlands, which provide not only a unique golf course setting, but a home to many different species of birds, fish and other aquatic life. Williamsburg National Yorktown Course Designed by renowned architect Tom Clark, the Yorktown is a 7,000 yard championship course. Accurate tee shots are required to successfully maneuver your way around the Yorktown course. With its strategically placed fairway bunkers and subtle fairway bends a successful round of golf on the Yorktown requires accuracy from the tee. The back nine features three par fives that give golfers plenty of opportunity to make up strokes that may have been lost on the difficult par three fourteenth and seventeenth holes. The Yorktown course was recently named to Golf Digests list of top 50 courses “most playable for Women.” Williamsburg National Jamestown Course Named after nearby historic Jamestown and designed by the Nicklaus Design group this 4-star GOLF DIGEST winner is a favorite for golfers of all skill levels. The Jamestown course was also a host site for several PGA tour qualifiers.
