As we start to look at life on the other side of national stay at home orders, many of us are starting to ask how we can recover some part of our normal life as safely as possible. Our thoughts immediately turn to that Spring Break vacation that might have been canceled or our hopes for a trip this summer. We still need a vacation. It might be closer to home, we may not choose to fly, but we still need a chance to recharge and make memories with our family.
Williamsburg’s attractions are hard at work planning ways to safely reopen and welcome you this summer. We are fortunate that most of our attractions are outdoor activities that can be enjoyed with appropriate social distancing measures. A phased reopening of attractions like Busch Gardens and Colonial Williamsburg is likely to take place in the coming weeks with a goal of having all attractions safely open by July 1 assuming our local situation remains stable as it is today.
Many of Williamsburg’s recreational activities are already open including 12 world class championship golf courses, nature trails for hiking, outdoor marinas etc. with many others opening May 15. Measures such as curbside check in and single rider carts have been employed at golf courses and the Colonial Parkway National Park is encouraging social distancing.
Many of Williamsburg’s hotels remain open with a variety of measures in place to ensure you can safely enjoy your stay. For example, contactless check in is available at most locations, guest rooms have been sanitized, many with enhanced measures like UV Sanitation, prior to your arrival and housekeeping during your stay is optional. In addition, breakfast buffets have been replaced with individually wrapped grab-and-go items. Choose a hotel with an indoor pool and enjoy some splash time as chlorine has been proven to kill Covid-19 and other viruses.
Vacations may look a little different this summer, but that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy some time away. As Williamsburg reopens, we will feature a variety of area attractions that do not involve waiting in line or close contact with others. Follow our Facebook page or check back here to see examples of a fun and safe way to enjoy your Williamsburg Vacation.
